CoLAB Festival is what every festival should be like. Sweet tunes played while friends danced, couples chilled out on the grass with a beer in hand and delicious smells wafted from the food trucks. Held at University of Western Australia, this boutique sized event was the brainchild of WA locals; from the music industry, creatives, foodies and UWA clubs to the talented musicians that performed on the day. Presented by triple j, and The Music, CoLAB festival was the best way to welcome the summer.

The talented artists painted live in the centre, their subject; Samantha Jade from Westfield's AW14 Fashion campaign. It's fascinating to watch artists work, especially when they are two of my favourite fashion illustrators!

The shoot was captured by the talented fashion and beauty photographer Aaron McPolin and the incredible outfits were from Leederville boutique Atlas Divine.

Her dreamy use of the black pen and splash of watercolour is perfect. I now own two pieces from Mekel. A framed original of J.Mendel lime green couture gown from this exhibition which was a lovely belated birthday gift from Mr CK and a limited edition print from Mekel's Perth Fashion Festival exhibition last year.
