BLVD Markets with Hatch
Question: How do you know you are dining with bloggers?
Answer: Conversations come to a halt, rearranging of plates, table decor and glasses begin, phones and cameras appear. And then comes the photo taking...and lots of it.
This is how yesterday went when a group of bloggers and I were treated to an amazing afternoon of delicious food, drinks and market stalls at the BLVD Markets.
Held at The Boulevard Hotel in Floreat, in partnership with Perth Fashion Festival'sHatch Shop, the BLVD Markets combine three great things; local fashion, fine food and drinks. Our bloggers lunch was hosted by the lovely Nicole Saw from David Gardiner PR where we sampled appetisers and drank the specialty cocktail of the day, followed by lunch and yummy cupcakes from Cake by Laura Isabella.
The company included bloggers Adelle from Where the Styled Things Are, Jenelle from Shut my eyes, Laura Liy from ethereal reality, Mon from Little Miss Mon Bon, The Trilogy blog trio Holly, Abbie and Jo Jo and Michelle, marketing coordinator, from Perth Fashion Festival. At most events bloggers are lone rangers, off taking photographs and networking, leaving no time to mingle between ourselves. This fabulous lunch allowed us to enjoy each other's company over a scrumptious meal which made for the perfect Saturday.
The market stalls showcased On a Whim, Jonté, Katherine Dunmill and a range of other great WA fashion and accessories labels that you know and love from Hatch. There was also wine and cider tastings from local producers and sweet treats from Cake by Laura Isabella.
My favourite stall was Hippocampus Memorable Drinks where bartender-cum-sales manager Jye Glaskin poured a rather delightful Sipsmith gin and tonic. Hippocampus is set to open a small-scale boutique distillery producing artisanal spirits from Australian-sourced ingredients in West Perth later this year. Stay tuned for some more exciting news on that!
