The Secret Life of Miniature Batman by Rémi Noël

Self-portrait, Uvalde, Texas
French photographer Rémi Noël captures stories at a glance with a miniature Batman figurine as his only companion. Inspired by works of Jack Kerouac, Edward Hopper and Robert Frank, Noël's tongue-in-cheek references to "timeless America" captured the lonely life of a superhero in the American west.
The miniature Batman, who was "borrowed" from his son, began as one photo and gradually became a quirky and fun series of its own. Working with black and white film, using the same camera and the same 50mm lens, Noël shot in daylight or ambient artificial light, letting the landscape and surroundings inspire him.
