What's on: February '16
I love February. Besides it being my wedding and birthday month, it feels like the true beginning to the year, after a sleepy and restful January. The weather is warm, people are still on track with their resolutions and excited for what the year might bring.
Let's look at what's on this month:
Welcome the Year of the Monkey at the Chinese New Year Festival. Watch the Big Dragon parade through the streets on Sunday, February 14th or even get involved yourself! You can volunteer to carry a lantern or become one of the legs of the dragon (sorry ladies, only men can be dragon legs - it's extremely heavy!).
Stay up all night from 7pm to 7am at White Night Melbourne on February 20th. Check out the line-up or make no plans and see where the night/morning takes you.
Yarra Valley Ice Cream Festival begins February 10th and ends February 21st. It's held at Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery in Yarra Glen. Ice cream experts will host a forty minute tasting and provide samples of twelve different flavours in a private tasting area. Book now places are limited. Tasting classes are $18. Entry to the festival is free.
Take a picnic and pillows and set up for Cinema at the G. Screening two nights only: February 12 - Million Dollar Arm (PG) and February 13 - The Martian (M). Book now, tickets selling fast.
The Beat of Brunswick Street, a brand new music event, is taking place from 1pm to 1am on Saturday, February 27th. Over forty plus bars, cafes, music venues and stores will be hosting live music and DJs. Should be great!
What else are you up to this month?
