Melburnians recently received one of the best pieces of fashion news to end the year on. The House of Dior's retrospective of haute couture is coming to Melbourne in August 2017.

The House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture is a collaboration between the National Gallery of Victoria and Christian Dior Couture. The world premiere will feature over 140 pieces designed by the label between 1947 and 2017.

To celebrate Dior's 70th anniversary, the exhibit will explore the history of the fashion house with magnificent works by the designers who have contributed to the label. From Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Marc Bohan to Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and most recently, Maria Grazia Chuiri.

Visitors will see Christian Dior’s iconic spring 1947 New Look collection, plus his signature ball gowns and evening dresses. The current creative director and the House’s first female head designer, Maria Grazia Chiuri, will showcase her inaugural couture collection.
