Why You Shouldn’t Settle For One Signature Scent
There's a place and time for all fragrances. It's like wearing shoes. You wouldn't wear heels to a footy match and fragrances are the same. Choose your scents for the occasion, whether it's work, brunch with friends, hanging at home or date night.
I own 4 fragrances that are on high rotation. My regulars are:
- Estée Lauder NUIT is the new after-dark scent within the Modern Muse collection and a new favourite of mine. It's elegant and seductive. Alluring rum notes balance rich jasmine, while amber and musk add to this bold and modern scent. If the name doesn't give it away, it's the ideal scent for evening.
- Tom Ford Orchid Soleil is a more radiant version to the elusive scent, Orchid. This fragrance is a combination of tuberose petals, black orchid, vanilla, and patchouli. It's perfect for evenings but I also love wearing it during the day. It feels mischievous wearing a sexy fragrance in broad daylight!
- Alberta Ferretti. Launched in 2009, this fragrance is still one of my favourites. I fell in love with it all those years ago and stocked up on bottles before it was discontinued. Sicilian bergamot and amber make up the base. The notes include freesia and pink pepper, sweet peas, ylang-ylang and Casablanca lily. While it's reasonably sweet, the patchouli and golden amber add sophistication. I use this perfume for work and day events.
- Nasomatto Hindu Grass - Anyone who knows Nasomatto will understand how unique these scents are. Hindu Grass has a serene dry grass-meets-green fragrance infused with deep wood and dried herbs. Think yoga in a bottle. It's earthy, spiritual and meditative. This scent is completely unconventional. You can't compare it to any other fragrances and I love that! This one is for relaxing weekends.
If you haven't found your signature perfumes yet, how do you go about finding them?
Try before you buy. Everyone's skin reacts differently to scent creating a unique smell. So try it on and after wearing it for the day, you'll know whether to make the investment or not. Does it give you a headache? Does it make you feel the way you want to feel? These are the questions you should ask yourself when trying out perfumes.
There's no rush. Building up your collection of fragrances takes time. Buy them when you come across one you absolutely love, after trying it on of course.
Don't limit life to one signature scent. Embrace every dimension of you, every occasion and mood, and choose the right fragrances for you.
