The Vintage Valentino Jacket
Unlike other bloggers who buy or are gifted the latest trend pieces for their readers to purchase, I tend to shy away from trends and am often put off if I see it all over the high street. While it's difficult to avoid trends altogether when shopping anywhere but vintage, I always go for classic staples - read more about that here.
A lot of my outfit posts won't tell you what to buy. Instead I hope that I inspire you to find your own sense of style, to search for those special pieces whether they’re from the high street, designer or vintage, and develop a wardrobe that you're proud of and can wear over and over, not just for a season.
Most of the special pieces I find are designer vintage. It takes some searching but there are always treasures to be found. This vintage Valentino jacket is part of a pantsuit that I found at Mitchell's in Palm Springs earlier this year. Before visiting Palm Springs I did my research of vintage stores that I wanted to go to and saw the Valentino wool cashmere pant suit on Mitchell’s Instagram page. I was deciding between this and a green Alaïa button down bodycon dress. The Alaïa was gorgeous but over my budget, whereas the pantsuit was a reasonable price, especially for two pieces.
At first I wasn’t sure how to wear the jacket on its own but after a few outfit trials I found the leather pants made the look modern, while the Balmain boots set off the gorgeous colour of the fur cuffs and inside of the collar.
I haven’t got the courage to wear the complete pantsuit out yet but what more suitable time than now during Melbourne Spring Fashion Week so we’ll see…
