Darlings Supper Club
There's a new kid in town and he's pretty darn cool.
Darlings Supper Club, an asian inspired eatery, has opened its doors in Northbridge, Perth. Operating seven days a week, from 3pm until 3am, Darlings is just what the city needs. With other eateries closing their kitchens as early as 8:30pm, it has brought much-needed late-night snacking to Perth.
Casual and funky, Darling's food is delicate and well presented, exactly what you would expect at a place like this. The decor is trendy and simple, with an outdoor area and rock n' roll tunes playing all through the night/early morning.
Now to the food. While sipping on Choya Baby ‘Ume’ ($9), fellow blogger Nezuki and I ate deep-fried baby shrimp with coriander cream ($11), steamed chicken, lemongrass, ginger and citrus dumplings with chicken consommé ($8) and pan-fried sticky pork and tamarind dumplings with house rice wine vinaigrette ($8). The dumplings were tasty, fresh and delicious.
For dessert we had the lime, lychee and coconut ‘trifle’ ($12) and peanut, chocolate and soy ‘snickers’ ($12), both were delectable.
While a little on the expensive side, Darlings is the perfect place for dinner out with friends or for a midnight snack. Next visit, I want to try the Sake on tap, Malabar goat curry with sticky coconut rice and the Hong Kong noodles!
It certainly won't be long until I'm back at Darlings again...perhaps I'll make it for supper tonight!
