Aurelio Costarella- A 30 Year Retrospective
Aurelio Costarella: A 30 Year Retrospective hosted by Western Australia Museum is a delight to see. Aurelio's exquisite designs from the last 30 years are scattered throughout the Museum. They are found posing between the dinosaurs in Diamonds to Dinosaurs, soaring in the skies with the eagles in the Bird Gallery or keeping the tiger company in the Mammal Gallery. Having the garments displayed amongst the Museum’s permanent galleries is magical and unexpected and exhibits Aurelio's creative flair and sense of fun.
From Western Australia, Aurelio Costarella managed to build a very successful career dressing a long list of celebrities while supporting local WA talent and never leaving Perth. This free and very unique exhibition gives people to chance to see the journey Aurelio has taken from a young emerging designer to the internationally renowned designer he is today.
Visually stunning, I would recommend everyone come and see Aurelio's retrospective.
While taking photos of the mannequin and gown perched in between the dinosaur bones, an 6-year-old boy walked past and said to his mother "Mummy, I wouldn't want to be that lady, she's about to be eaten by the dinosaur!". It made my day...and I guess he had a point!
Aurelio Costarella: A 30 Year Retrospective is on at the WA Museum until February 2, 2014.
