Umbra Collective: Jasmine Nash | The Modern Bride

This is the first of a few posts on the Umbra Collective student runway that I attended last week.

First up is Jasmine Nash's collection The Modern Bride.

Inspired by nature, Jasmine Nash's bridal collection borrows the textures and voluminous silhouettes from the veiled lady mushroom. Created for the modern bride as the name suggests, the collection is full of contemporary wedding dresses with a difference. Each piece is intricately layered, embellished and pleated.

When I saw this gorgeous collection on the runway, it made me really excited to get married. Cost aside, how many wedding dresses would be too many for my big night...

Party Planning

Ever since I announced my engagement a few weeks ago, my mind has been in wedding overdrive. I knew there was a lot of planning that goes into weddings, but never this much! The Hidden Sound

When Nadine, from MGVP, invited me to an intimate mystery gig in Fremantle featuring a secret artist, I could not refuse.

The hundred ticket holders would only find out the secret location the day before the event, and the artist would be revealed at the last minute on the night.

Following on from Zimmermann's Resort 2015 collection, Perth designer Kim Ellery brings out a strong Resort range of her own. Full of masculine lines, structured shapes and a largely monochromatic palette, this collection is very true to the Ellery label's effortless aesthetic.

Colour Pop

Colours can do wonders for your mood. Bring them out on a cold winter's day and you'll immediately feel a spring in your step. I picked up this Jessie Hill swing coat years ago in Melbourne and although time has passed, it still has a place in my closet. Worn here with my T by Alexander Wang skirt and Rag & Bone Newbury pony hair boots, the coats adds a playful touch.

The Pants Update: Jodhpurs

Originating from India in the 1890's, jodhpurs were initially designed for polo players, for ease of movement. In 1897, Queen Victoria, the Monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and Empress of India, celebrated her Diamond Jubilee. For the celebrations, the Regent of Jodhpur, Sir Pratap Singh, travelled to England and took with him the Jodhpur Polo team.
