While many would think that winter is a time for rest and early nights, in fact the opposite is true. Instead, the city and country comes alive with events and things to do. Keep reading to find out what's on this month.

National Gallery of Victoria and Art Exhibitions Australia presents Van Gogh and the Seasons for the 2017 Melbourne Winter Masterpieces. This one's a must-see. To attempt to miss the crowds, go as soon as the gallery opens. Showing until 9th July 2017.
While it's cold outside, snuggle up and binge-watch Twin Peaks (on Stan) and The Handmaid’s Tale (on SBS). I've been loving Flesh and Bone (on Stan) a 2015 American drama miniseries based around a New York City ballet company. It's gripping and addictive and deserves a watch especially if you're interested in dance.
Choreographer Graeme Murphy’s Nutcracker – The Story of Clara is a divine masterpiece based on the classical ballet, The Nutcracker. Performed by The Australian Ballet at the Arts Centre until June 10th.
Escape the city for Dark Mofo, Hobart's winter festival. Together The Tasmanian Government and the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) bring the city to life exploring ancient winter solstice rituals, mythology and the link between darkness and light, and birth and death. This year, I'm excited to go for the first time to Dark Mofo. I will let you know my experience and of course bring you an up-to-date guide to Hobart. June 8-21 across Hobart.
Staying in Victoria for the long weekend? Get away to Bendigo, Daylesford or Red Hill. While everyone else may have the same idea too, it's always refreshing to have a change of scenery.
