Collaborating opens and refreshes the creative mind, it transforms ideas and above all, you learn from others.

Recently, I collaborated with Sydney based jewellery label Au Revoir Les Filles to shoot a feature for the blog. I set out to produce a series of editorials, so I got in touch with two creatives whom I admire.

The first was make-up artist Emily Moran. I was seeking her expertise and magic touch to bring the photos to life. Multi-talented, she also got behind the camera for this editorial. You can see the finished product here.

The second creative was Melbourne based photographer, Grace Petrou. I saw her work on fellow bloggers States of Style's website, and also fell in love with her bridal photography. Her images are dark and moody, exactly the feel I wanted for this second editorial. These are her beautiful images featured here.

I love how each editorial transformed into something entirely different. I was inspired, motivated and empowered by the work we created, and I learnt in the process.

I shared a similar personal post a few weeks ago, about taking a break in order to feel refreshed and motivated. Collaboration however, is something I found to be much more invigorating and a way to gain perspective.

To start collaborating reach out to the people you admire. Don't be afraid to take that step. You never know what magic might happen when you collaborate.
